Kate is passionate about helping individuals, organizations, and communities develop, change, innovate, and thrive. Working as an organizational consultant and facilitator, coach and educator, she is recognized for her expertise and commitment to developing leaders and building change capability in organizations.
Kate brings a unique perspective to her work with clients that combines theory and practice. Previous roles as director of talent management and organizational development, and executive management roles in healthcare have shaped her work as a practitioner, enabling her to bring practical wisdom to client engagements. As an educator, Kate has taught certificate-based courses in training and development, HR management, board governance, and strategic planning in both the university and community college sectors. As an independent consultant, she has worked with business and industry, government, healthcare, higher education, and the not-for-profit sector. Currently, as a facilitator affiliated with Queen’s Industrial Relations Centre, she designs and delivers programs in leading change and shifting culture, to business and HR leaders from across Canada, and internationally.
Kate helps clients explore their growth edges to better understand how their mindsets, actions, and stories shape their thinking and action. Kate believes that by changing our stories, and engaging in generative dialogue with others, we can create opportunities to expand our perspectives, and transform ourselves, our organizations, and our communities.
Her approach to coaching is grounded in her training with Adler, the Immunity to Change program with Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey at Minds at Work, certification in the Leadership Circle executive leadership assessment, strengths-based and narrative approaches, and adult development theory.
Kate holds an Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario, a Master of Education from the University of Toronto, a Master ‘s degree and a PhD in Human and Organizational Systems from Fielding Graduate University. She is currently a Fellow at the Institute for Social Innovation at Fielding. Her research focuses on developing leaders, and building cultures, that encourage employee voice, mutuality, and shared power.
