Helena Axler

Helena is a Lecturer in the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the Univ. of Toronto. She is the co-author, with Dr. Wendy Levinson, past Chair of the Univ. of Toronto Dep't of Medicine, of “Strategic Planning in a Complex Academic Environment: Lessons from one Academic Centre”, (Academic Medicine August 2007)

Helena Axler is the Managing Principal of Axler and Associates, a health care consulting practice focused on strategy development and facilitating organizational and system change.  Helena works extensively with teaching hospitals, universities and research organizations. Notable academic strategic planning projects include the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine and several of its departments, including Surgery, Medicine and  the Department of Family & Community Medicine. 
Helena is recognized as a talented facilitator, with strong synthetic skills, capable of drawing together multiple and complex inputs and organizing them into coherent strategy.  She works with leaders at all levels helping them to articulate their strategic vision and engage their staff and key stakeholders in shaping the goals and actions to achieve that vision.  Helena uses diverse stakeholder engagement strategies including targeted interviews, focus groups and surveys and is well known for her planning retreats and summits which provide the opportunity to create, test and confirm strategic directions. She works with her clients to develop accountability frameworks  which position them for successful implementation and monitoring of progress in achieving their goals.

Helena is the Vice-Chair of the Nanny Angel Network, a not for profit organization that provides free  child care relief for mothers with cancer.
